Tips: How to Keep Your Nails Healthy

"healthy nails tip"

Today, we are offering beauty tips to keep our nails healthy. Nails are fragile and between home chores, gardening, or the harsh winter weather, we do put them through a lot. Nails can become weak and brittle. Taking just a few steps can go a long way in keeping our nails healthy. Check out our Art of the Home tips below to keep your nails strong.

Art of the Home Tips:

  1. Moisturizer: keep your nails and cuticles moisturized. Apply daily or after you put your hands in water for an extended period of time.
  2. Hand washing: opt for cold water instead of hot water. Also, don’t soak your hand too long in water.
  3. Yellow nails: rub your nails with lemon, it will whiten them as well as fortify them.
  4. Cutting your nails: keep your cuticles and use an emery board nail file, much gentler than scissors or stainless steel nail file.
  5. Nail polish: use a base coat first but make sure it does not include chemicals such as formaldehyde or toluene sulfonamide.
  6. Polish remover: use no more than once per week and use one without acetone which dries nails.
  7. Eat foods rich in vitamin B: Vitamin B promotes strong nails and Vitamin B12 promotes nail strengthening, healthy nail color and growth.
  8. Supplement: taking a biotin supplement (2.5 milligrams per day) can help your nails get thicker. Instead, you can eat liver or include beer yeast in your diet, also rich in biotin.
