The Féria of Nîmes (also called The Whitsun Féria or Feria of Pentecôte) is one of the most popular festivals in Europe. It starts today and is celebrating its 60th anniversary. The first féria started in 1952. Every year it lasts 6 days and ends on Whit Monday (le lundi de la Pentecôte). The festivities was kicked off by the Feria des enfants (Children’s Féria). Over a million people come to enjoy the festivities – even those that don’t care for bullfights (corrida). For more information, we recommend the following sources: the Official site of Nîmes or The Nîmes Tourism Office where they welcome you in English and offer a program of the Feria in English. Hope you enjoy the free trip on to this historic city in the South of France!
