What’s for dinner? Today’s Menu du Jour is inspired by the Alsace region (North-Eastern area of France) – the same region that brought us Sunday’s French Christmas stars (étoiles de Noël).
Menu du Jour
#1: a healthy grated carrots salad
#2: a classic and easy onion savory tart
#3: an anti-oxidant rich apple-prune dessert plate
The grated carrots salad is naturally loaded with pro-vitamin A, great for the skin. The onion savory tart is easy and quick to make for a weekly dinner and is delicious with a side of green salad. For dessert, an apple-prune plate is excellent to promote good digestion and you can present it beautifully by cutting your apples in very thin slices, arranging the apple wedges in a circle on a small dessert plate and placing a few prunes in the center.
Menu du Jour – Week of December 12th, 2011
So check below for the Art of the Home Menu du Jour ideas. An easy 3-course meal, even during the week, is a great help to eat slow and prevent overeating so we encourage eating smaller portions (1/2 cup for the carrots and 1 slice for the onion tart) but having a 3-course meal when possible. And as always with Art of the Home detailed recipes, Art of the Home suggestions are included. Enjoy and bon appétit!
