Bonjour dear readers — warm wishes to you and your families for a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday surrounded with your loved ones or at least in touch (the invention of the phone and video chatting is definitely a high tech. gift to be grateful for!). We will too be rejoicing during this Thanksgiving holiday — slowing down, enjoying simple pleasures with our families and loved ones. In the spirit of being thankful, we wanted to share with you the beautiful and wise words of Louis Armstrong given in a 1970 recording just before he started singing his optimistic song “What a Beautiful World”. You will recognize his warm voice and bright cheerful smile as he gives us his insightful “secret” (you know all about it) of what it takes to make the “wonderful world” he is talking about — such simple and uplifting words to remind us to enjoy and be thankful for the simplest joys of life!
Being Thankful for the Simplest Joys of Life
So in the video above, Louis Armstrong introduces his song “What a Beautiful World” — that lovely song where he talks about the simple things we see everyday and that are so beautiful (trees, flowers, the sky, clouds, colors of the rainbows, friendship and kindness, children growing up, etc.). So many simple joys to be grateful for today and everyday.
Art of the Home Uplifting Quote du Jour
- English — “Some of you young folks have been saying to me: “Hey Pops, what you mean “What a wonderful world”?” How about all them wars all over the place? You call them wonderful? And how about hunger and pollution? That ain’t so wonderful either.” Well how about listening to old Pops for a minute. Seems to me, it ain’t the world that’s so bad but what we’re doin’ to it. And all I’m saying is: see, what a wonderful world it would be if only we’d give it a chance. Love baby, love. That’s the secret, yeah! If lots more of us loved each other, we’d solve lots more problems. And then this world would be…better. That’s wha’ ol’ Pops keeps saying.”
