Bonjour and welcome to the Art of the Home gallery of front yard landscaping ideas we handpicked for you. And as always, sharing “The Little Plus” (“Le Petit Plus”). Hope you enjoy the visit!
A landscaped front yard is a definite head-turner. A well thought-out landscape creates a good first impression to your home. Guests will remember the mix of colors from the flowers, the striking silhouette of topiaries and trimmed hedges, the coolness provided by trees, the sound of bird calls and the rustle of the leaves with the breeze. You can put into order or play around with the natural terrain of the surroundings coupled with man-made features to create a memorable visual treat. Imagine flower-lined pathways to the doorstep, or opening a porch door to a field of puffy ornamental grass. Wouldn’t that be a treat?
So how about taking a step back and looking at your front yard, imagine the possibilities taking into account your home facade and the natural terrain of your front yeard. Coming in from the street, you could have a winding stone pathway to the front door with flowering plants on both sides, or a circular concrete driveway surrounded by neatly mown grass, or a Provence-inspired pea gravel walkway lined with fragrant parterres. And as you get closer to the front door, how about a front stoop with planters filled with more flowers or topiaries? Landscaping also helps define different spaces around your home. You can use garden walls and hedges to border your property, arbors to complement your fence, or parterres to lead the way to your front door, there are so many possibilities. The size of your front yard hardly matters. Do you have a small front yard? Medium-sized plants can help screen your home from street noise without taking too much space. You can also utilize hanging planters and put up a trellis for climbing plants. Or if you have a large property, evergreens and large trees can act as natural fences for safety and privacy. Functional and beautiful!
