Painting it in bright colors bring elements of fun and adventure. For example, the color red gives a dramatic or stylish flair. Accents like wall sconces, pendant lights, and stone urn planters with boxwood or flowers will look lovely paired with lightly painted doors. Pastel colors are muted tones too that gives a different look altogether. They look youthful and sweet (and feminine). You can also go for dark colors like black or a very deep blue for a touch of “British” elegance, or a dark forest green that looks cool and woodsy. 1. Hostellerie La Turbie…
The Little Plus: the purple double swing doors and the matching transom with house-shaped details over it. The bold and unusual color grabs everyone’s attention. Notice how the window frames and shutters add interest on the weathered stone and concrete wall. Also, the multi-colored lantern just above the entry giving just the right amount of Mediterranean flair. All in all, this is one instagrammable old world facade! Let’s take out those phones and take selfies.
2. Something Blue…
The Little Plus: the baby blue turquoise glass front French door and side transoms. By installing a glass square top door, the homeowner opens up the living room and creates a well-lit and breezy space — the operable sidelights aid in giving that openness to the home. And the beadboard ceiling in the same shade lightens up the porch made of the same gray shingles used in the main structure. And how about that entrance…like a built-in carpet the light gray and blue accent on the steps leading up to the porch looks like flowing water. Nice cool touch!
3. Find Me Under the Wisteria…
The Little Plus: the muted antique vintage red door — joyful and very welcoming. Four frosted glass center lites and the diamond-shaped detail in the middle give this door an art deco look. And the light gray of the front stoop offer a gentle transition from the walkway to the white picket fence. And the wisterias covered trellis covering the stoop is a breathtaking display of pendulus and scented flowers.
4. Behind the Green Door…
The Little Plus: the tall two-panel double entry door. A beautiful shade of green that goes wonderfully well with the white millwork framing it. Brass touches from the mail slot, knob, and house numbers give this door an air of subtle elegance. And the vibrant wood stained threshold looks rustic and organic at the same time. Also, notice the nice green patina on the vintage bronze outdoor hanging lantern that lights the path for everyone who enters. Wonder if we find more green inside?
5. Stately Portico…
The Little Plus: the royal blue double swing doors with rivets and contrasting door knobs. It looks regal and fits in nicely in this white Colonial-style portico. Simple square columns frame the doorway and the transom with decorative details, while fluted Greek columns stand guard up-front holding up an entablature with dentil molding.
6. House of Cards…
The Little Plus: the high gloss red, four paneled door is vibrant as a wake up call. Glazed sidelights and a decorative transom provide natural light for the interior. And notice how the scalloped black trim creates a makeshift awning with a lantern on the center. Also, you can see how the two topiaries with purple and white morning glories graze the ground, calling back the potted flowers in the window box above the door.
7. Teal Spiel…
The Little Plus: the teal 4-panel front door with center knob. Notice the stark white door frame and corbels holding up the awning over the door making the teal hue pop. And how about the spider web pattern on the transom bringing in natural light into the foyer while adding visual interest to this entrance, great idea!
