French Travel: Escapade to Provence and the French Riviera

Provence FranceBanon, Provence, France

Today, let’s go to the South of France “en chanson” (with a song). Inspiring pictures are rolling as Nino Ferrer sings his enchanting song “Le Sud” (The South).

Those beautiful pictures can spark a few ideas for our home or just give us some joy to spread around with our loved ones. Here are some of my favorites shots:

  • Lavender fields – what else in Provence!
  • Cobblestone streets and old stone houses with hydrangeas in terra cotta planters — this can also be done on a patio — even a small one.
  • Amazing sunset on the Mediterranean sea (mer Méditerranée) — priceless!
  • Farmer’s market in Provence — time to think about getting our “panier” (basket) out and check the spring and summer hours of our local farmer’s market.

Just a little 5 minute escapade that will bring sunshine to your day, enjoy!

Here is our translation of our favorite verses from this lovely song:

Le Sud – The South

by Nino Ferrer

C’est un endroit qui ressemble à la Louisiane, à l’Italie – It is a place that looks like Lousiana, like Italy
Il y a du linge étendu sur la terrasse, et c’est joli – Clothes hung on a clothesline on the patio, and it’s pretty
On dirait le Sud – It looks like the South
Le temps dure longtemps – Time lasts a long time
Et la vie sûrement, plus d’un million d’années – And life certainly lasts more than one million years
Et toujours en été – And it’s always summer
Y’a plein d’enfants qui se roulent sur la pelouse – There are lots of children rolling in the grass
Y’a plein de chiens, Y’a même un chat, une tortue, des poissons rouges – There are lots dogs, there is even a cat, a turtle, gold fish
Il ne manque rien – Nothing is missing
